Ailsa McMillan is an IDCORE student based at FloWave, working towards her EngD. Since 2022, she has been working on a project exploring the sensitivity of tower design in scaled-model floating offshore wind turbines, with a focus on nacelle accelerations and platform motions. Her research integrates tank testing, numerical modelling, and CAD software.
Ailsa earned an integrated Master's degree in Chemistry with Medicinal Chemistry from the University of Glasgow in 2020. During her final year, she conducted a project investigating molecules for potential use in organic solar cells, sparking her interest in renewable energy. Motivated to contribute to the practical side of renewable energy projects, she transitioned to engineering and joined the IDCORE program in 2021.
