BusinessGreen Technology Awards recognise FloWave as Marine Energy Innovation of the Year 2015
The FloWave Ocean Energy Research Facility at the University of Edinburgh has won the Marine Energy Innovation of the Year award for 2015 during the inaugural BusinessGreen Technology Awards event in London last week.
The awards highlight the best of the emerging clean technologies critical to the success of tackling climate change, and celebrate the businesses, investors, entrepreneurs and inventors who are crucial to their successful development and deployment.
The FloWave Ocean Energy Research Facility is widely recognised and lauded as an essential R&D infrastructure to help engineers and developers de-risk and refine performance of their ocean technologies. As the best and most sophisticated test facility of its kind in the world, the judges agreed that the location of such a facility in Scotland, co-located as it is within easy reach of some the best and most experienced research minds in the sector at the University of Edinburgh’s Institute for Energy Systems, is a perfect alignment of technical capability and expertise within the sector in Europe.
Commenting on the new award FloWave Chief Executive Officer Stuart Brown said:
“BusinessGreen is a highly informed channel for information and intelligence regarding clean energy technology innovation in the UK and worldwide. That the awards team recognise and appreciate both the technical capability of the FloWave facility, and the expertise that lies behind it both internally and within the University itself, is both a credit to their insight and their appreciation of the many challenges that we are able to help clients solve.
“On behalf of all the team at FloWave I should like to thank BusinessGreen for their award. We are a modest but highly capable team at FloWave, and are most grateful for the recognition of the solution we represent for ocean clients.”
